Low-calorie breakfast options on the run

Low-calorie breakfast options make eating out a breeze

For those of us counting calories, the thought of eating breakfast on-the-go might be enough to send us into minor panic attacks. Unlimited fat content and piles of sugar are usually the culinary choices of the day when it comes to breakfast options off a standard menu.

But as I’ve recently discovered, there is a selection of delightful and yes, dare I say, scrumptious breakfast sandwiches out there that can keep daily calorie-counts at a respectable level.

So next time you have to grab-and-go in the morning, consider these options I found in the September 2010 issue of Good Housekeeping:
  1. Egg White Wake-Up Wrap, from Dunkin’ Donuts – 150 calories
  2. Western Egg White Muffin Melt, from Subway – 180 calories
  3. Ham Omelet Sandwich, from Burger King - 270 calories
  4. Breakfast Jack, from Jack in the Box – 284 calories
  5. Egg McMuffin, from McDonald’s – 300 calories
  6. Bacon and Bagel Sandwich, from Au Bon Pain – 340 calories
  7. Reduced-Fat Turkey Bacon with Egg Whites, from Starbucks – 340 calories
